CEO of Matrax Ltd
Andrey’s career began in 2000 when he joined a leading Wall Street bank in New York. Initially attracted by the glitz and glamour of the banking industry, he soon realized that watching numbers go up and down on 3 monitors is not how he’d like to spend the rest of his career. In 2005, he moved to London to get an MBA from London Business School. After graduating, he joined Nike’s management development program and later Diageo, one of the world’s largest spirits producers. He finished his career at Diageo as Global Head of Digital Marketing for Johnnie Walker.
In 2015, after 20 years away from Bulgaria, Andrey moved back and joined BGmenu, the company founded by his brother, as their CMO. After BGmenu’s sale to Takeaway.com, Andrey travelled in Asia for a few months and upon his return, became the CEO of Matrax, a family business and the leading sleep goods distributor in Bulgaria and Romania. Andrey views the last 5 years as his most significant in terms of personal & professional growth, and ones defined by crisis. His first day at BGmenu was the day that their largest competitor initiated a hostile takeover. And he became CEO of Matrax 2 weeks before the Covid-19 shutdown in Bulgaria and Romania. Plenty of lessons learned, and ones he is very happy to share with the ABLE community.
